Welcome to HAMPSHIRE ARCHERY ASSOCIATION

arrows

Hampshire Archery Association is the home of archery in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands in the UK. The Association is affiliated to SCAS (Southern Counties Archery Society) and Archery GB (GNAS) who are the governing body for the sport in the UK.

Archery is a sport for all ages and abilities and is great for families. There are over 50 archery clubs in Hampshire and most offer beginners courses. If you interested in trying archery get in touch with one of the clubs listed here.

Many of you will already know that we have been working to organise more junior inter-county matches for 2019, possibly even an inter-county league.

The plan is to identify a number of existing tournaments (one from each county) and use the scores shot to formulate a "Team Score". Points can then be allocated to the county teams to form a "League"

Teams will consist of 4 x recurve or 3 x compound, in each case, any gender and any round providing it is the correct distance for your age. Longbow/Barebow to count as recurve.

Teams will not be pre-selected, it will be the highest scoring archers on the day from each county. It will be up to you to complete and pay for your own entries and no travelling expenses will be paid to anyone.

Tournaments identified are as follows:

14th April Andover Saxon Bristols
11th May (?) Wallingford Metrics
18th/19th May Junior Masters Metrics
1st June Lintman Metrics
16th June Burleigh Bristols
7/8th July JNOC Metrics/Bristols
21st July Cleve Metrics
1st September Supermarine Bristols

Please note some dates are still to be confirmed!

Entry forms for the Andover Saxon and the Lintman (Surrey Championships) tournaments are already out. JNOC will be entered via Sport 80 as usual.

Other dates for your diaries would be Saturday 22nd June when it is possible that the SCAS Junior Intercounty Championships will make a comeback after an absence of several years (to be held at Wallingford) and 18th August when Andover will be holding the 2nd Junior Metric Tournament.

So, now it is up to you! Get those entries in and let me know which tournaments you will be attending. I can then work with the other county team managers to set up the matches and the league.
