From the BBC website:

Burglars who targeted an archery club are risking lives by using bows and arrows in public.

A safety warning has been issued after Portsdown Archery Club in Portsmouth, Hampshire, was burgled twice in the last week.

There have been reports of arrows being found across the northern and eastern parts of the city, including gardens, since the break-ins.

A total of 16 bows and 200 arrows were stolen, police have confirmed.

These are not toys and are very dangerous weapons
Sgt Trevor Quade
Hampshire Constabulary

Members of the club in Westover Road discovered the thefts on Sunday and Thursday.

Hampshire Constabulary believe the offenders forced entry into the building overnight.

Some items were recovered very close to the building but arrows have been found in other parts of the city.

Police appeal

Sgt Trevor Quade said: "It takes a certain degree of skill and knowledge to use these bows and arrows properly, and they are obviously being used by whoever has them at the moment.

"Fortunately no one has been hurt, but these are not toys and are very dangerous weapons.

"We need to find those responsible for the burglaries and recover the items as soon as possible."

He added: "It may be that someone has bought or received these items in good faith, and we would urge anyone who has seen them to contact us immediately."

Full results on the GNAS field website .
Also if interested, archers will find a field calendar, and details of how to volunteer to help with the World Championships.

This message from SCAS Hon. Sec. relates to work being done by SCAS to promote archery.

Anyone willing and able to help should contact Arthur Scales (HAA PRO) direct on phone 01481 725725 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Arthur Scales the SCAS PRO has arranged for the publicity trailer to be positioned at the Berkshire Show (Newbury) on the 15th and 16th of September 2007.

The trailer will need to be "maned" for the two day event but not necessarily by the same people so volunteers are required, Arthur has arranged for a small number of free entry tickets to be available for willing helpers!

If there is any "adjacent" counties who would like to exibit at this show please contact Arthur. You will need to supply your own litarature if you wish to have space in the trailer.

This is a good opportunity to show what we are about and Arthur has worked hard to arrange this, our first venture, into this type of publicity so please do try and support him. His e mail address is shown above.

Kind regards,

Brian P.
