Hampshire Archery Association is the home of archery in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands in the UK. The Association is affiliated to SCAS (Southern Counties Archery Society) and Archery GB (GNAS) who are the governing body for the sport in the UK.

Archery is a sport for all ages and abilities and is great for families. There are over 50 archery clubs in Hampshire and most offer beginners courses. If you interested in trying archery get in touch with one of the clubs listed here.

For the second year running Hampshire Archery Association teams win both the Recurve and Compound Trophies.

Three SCAS archers (unfortunately not from Hampshire) did well at the European Field Archery Championships which were held in Bjelovar, Croatia this month. They were Michelle Worthington of Crowthorne, Berkshire - 13th Ladies recurve; Chris Wells also of Crowthorne took Bronze Junior Gent recurve ; and Garry Cole of Hellingley Sussex 6th Gents compound.

The Hampshire team accumulated a score of 11,901 points to beat the Dorset and Wiltshire team by more than 400 points at the Salisbury Double FITA 720.

On a day of success for Hampshire archers Peter Jones, Lee Miller, Lucy O'Sullivan and Caroline Owen all came away with one of the white horses, as well as being part of the successful team.

Britain's womens' recurve team has won the gold medal at the Meteksan Archery World Cup tournament in Dover.

Alison Williamson, Naomi Folkard and Charlotte Burgess added this victory to the bronze medal they won at last month's World Championships in Leipzig, defeating Poland in the semi-finals, and then Italy in the final.

Great Britain has has also won the bronze medal in the men's recurve team.

Alan Wills, Simon Terry and Larry Godfrey defeated China by 219 points to 213 in a play-off match.

Team GB took more medals at Dover today

The individual Womans' recurve gold medal was won by Alison Williamson

Individual Men's Silver was wom by Simon Terry

Individual Men's Bronze was won by Alan Wills.

The Mens' compound team event saw Team GB winning silver medals with a great performance by Hampshires Mark Franklin shooting in the team for the first time. Fantastic shooting Mark.

Mark said:
I've just loved it, I've shot really well, really solid, and I've had fun, and I want to wear this GB shirt so many more times," he said. "The boys have been fantastic to me, it's been such a great experience, and to go away with a silver medal is the icing on the cake.

The womans compound team took the bronze medals.
