Peter TurnerPeter Turner has been recognised as an archery hero in the annual Torch Trophy Trust awards.

Here is the article from GNAS:

"He was nominated after David Backers, Chairman of Overton Black Arrows in Hampshire got in touch with Archery GB. He described Peter's 50 years of service to archery at club, regional and national level - he is a national and international coach - and said: "There can be very few who have done so much over such a long period of time."
Peter, a former national field archer, helped found Overton's Junior section, kept the club going when membership tumbled during the 1990s, runs beginners courses, organised the club's annual field tournament and runs have-a-gos at schools and fetes.
"Peter IS Overton Black Arrows," said David. "It is impossible to imagine it without him and he has set the way we work, our ethos.
"He is unstinting in the time he devotes to the club, so much so that we took tasks away from him to give him a rest."
David said that Peter spends more than 200 hours each year attending committee meetings at county, regional and national level and writing reports - and spends his holidays filming the British Field Archery team so members can see how they perform in competition.
"Peter Turner has given a large part of his life to archery," said David. "The number of people he has taught and coached is legion, from children to senior citizens: all for free and from a love of the sport. He truly deserves to have his contribution to archery recognised."
The Torch Trophy Trust was formed after the 1948 London Olympics. Organiser Commander Bill Collins was given one of the torches made for the final leg of the relay from Olympia to Wembley and set up the award to recognise unsung heroes.
Last year it recognised Malcolm Grant of Brixham Archers for his grassroots voluntary work."

Well done Peter and a big thank you for all the work you have done for the County as well.
